St. Mark’s Spree Wales Review

St. Mark’s Cardiff view on Spree Wales 2011

I love Spree Wales. I’ve been taking a group since it started and it’s got better and better each year. 2011 was no exception.

I love the fact that everything is put on for the youth and the kids. The games, activities and the Christian input. All I have to do is get them to Spree, feed them, put a roof (or should I say tent) over their head and make sure they get home safely. That leaves the rest of the weekend for me and my volunteers to enjoy hanging out with the youth and getting to know them better.

The weather this year was hot the whole weekend which made a nice change from the rain of previous years. The activities were great. The zorbs, the quad bike, the climbing frame and the new water slide. The different groups were good with something for everyone. My favourite part of the whole weekend was the Saturday night meeting. God moved very powerfully and had a positive impact on my young people.

About three weeks after Spree one of the mums of the teenagers came up to me and asked what had happened. She said that since her son had returned home, he had been regularly reading his bible. That’s what I love about Spree. Not only is it a fun weekend away, but it’s a chance for young people to get to know God better and to grow as Christians.
